The coin the US company Ripple uses to make cross-border payments fast and cheap; transfers on the XRP Ledger finish in a few seconds. Its trading volume in Korea is especially high, so its kimchi premium is often in the news. It is also known for the lawsuit with the US SEC, which began in 2020, over whether it is a security.
When you send XRP to an exchange, you must enter a number called the 'destination tag' along with the address. If you leave the tag out, the deposit will not be credited automatically and you may have to contact the exchange. Transfers usually finish within a few seconds, so it is known as a fast coin for moving between exchanges.
